alteration. The building is now fully operational and provides vital help and support
to some of the most vulnerable people in the surrounding area.
We have huge numbers of people using our services every week and these numbers continue
to increase week on week as more people become affected by the current economic climate.
Our facilities and services are being used by people of all ages from school children
to pensioners. We are providing food and hot drinks to some of the community’s most
vulnerable people, especially those suffering from financial and fuel poverty. We
provide alcohol, drug and relationship counselling and supply furniture, clothing
and food parcels to those desperately in need as well as packs of essential items
for those who are homeless.
Our facility allows local members of the community a warm place of care and refuge,
a listening ear, companionship and direct practical help. The Real Deal team have
also visited several schools during the past year, speaking to hundreds of school
children and warning of the dangers of alcohol, drugs and gang culture. We currently
receive referrals from Ex-Offenders organisations such as ‘Reflex’ and Prison Fellowship
to help and resettle ex prisoners. We hope to be able to offer training and job
opportunities as well as qualifications linked to our market gardening & furniture
restoration projects which are now well underway. Our Job Club provides help with
Job Search, CV writing and interview preparation.
